Aftercare
Tattoo Aftercare Guide
Proper aftercare is essential for a great result. Follow these instructions carefully for the best healing outcome.
Second Skin (Days 1-5)
After your session, I'll apply Second Skin — a transparent, breathable protective film. This is the best thing for your fresh tattoo.
Leave the Second Skin on for 4-5 days.
It's completely normal to see fluid, ink, and plasma collecting underneath. This is part of the healing process — don't worry, and don't peel it off early.
If the Second Skin starts to lift at the edges or causes irritation, you can carefully remove it early and switch to the wash-and-moisturise method below.
After Removing Second Skin
Remove the Second Skin gently in a warm shower. Do not rip it off — let warm water loosen the adhesive.
- Wash gently with warm water and a small amount of unscented, antibacterial soap. Use your fingertips only — no cloths or sponges.
- Pat dry with a clean paper towel. Never rub the tattoo.
- Apply a thin layer of unscented moisturiser (such as Bepanthen or a fragrance-free lotion).
- Repeat 3 times daily — morning, midday, and evening — for the first 2-3 weeks.

Healing Timeline
Second Skin Phase
Leave the protective film on. Fluid and ink underneath is normal.
Initial Healing
Wash and moisturise 3x daily. Peeling and flaking is normal — don't pick at it.
Surface Healing
The surface of the tattoo heals. Colour may appear dull — this is temporary.
Full Healing
The deeper layers of skin heal completely. Your tattoo will settle into its final appearance.
Long-Term Care
Once your tattoo is fully healed, a little ongoing care goes a long way:
- Moisturise regularly to keep the skin healthy and the ink vibrant
- Apply SPF 30+ sunscreen when the tattoo is exposed to UV
- Avoid prolonged soaking (long baths, hot tubs)
- Touch-ups are available — one free within 3 months, reduced rate after that
